Many of Glenn Beck’s viewers might be losing a lot of money as the price of gold plummets, thanks to Beck’s aggressive and unethical promotion of gold investment firms. But Beck’s survivalist audience shouldn’t have to worry about buying food if they also heeded his call to sign up for Food Insurance, which offers customers “great tasting, nutritious meals” as part of its “emergency food supplies.”

While reading a Food Insurance advertisement on his show today, Beck got to thinking about the Founding Fathers and the American Revolution.

Much like the Founding Fathers, Beck explained, viewers who purchase Food Insurance also know the importance and value of preparation.

Unlike Egyptians and Occupy protesters who “smoke dope, live out in a park and have sex in a tent with everybody they meet,” the Founders were willing to “sit in a room for years and study and try to figure out: What does freedom mean and how do we make people free?”

“So very few people do preparation, and that’s why there’s failure, you can cut corners but you can only get away with it for so long” Beck said. He then returned to reading the Food Insurance ad: “If trouble comes, are you and your family prepared? Food Insurance offers freeze-dried entrees or dehydrated options. There’s something for everybody and every budget; it really is good.”
