Last Friday, talk show host Ellen Degeneres took aim at the Boy Scouts of America’s ban on LGBT members and leaders. Degeneres, a former Girl Scout, took exception to the fact that the BSA punted on the issue this week rather than striking down the ban against LGBTs in scouting. The scouts’ leadership council announced on Wednesday that it will not take any action toward striking down the ban until May.
“Now, I know this is a big decision for the Boy Scouts,” Degeneres said. “Because if the Boy Scouts start treating gays equally, they’re going to become the first group to do it…after the Army, the Air Force, the Navy, the Marines, the Coast Guard, all of the United Kingdom and Cher.”
