You loved him as a sub on Live with Regis and Kelly, and now you can take him out of the running as a possible Philbin replacement when Reege leaves in November.
Jeff Probst is getting his own talk show.
Yes, he’ll still host Survivor, according to The Hollywood Reporter. But he has “inked a deal” with CBS Television Distribution to develop a daytime talk show to debut in fall 2012.
“Anyone who has seen Jeff on Survivor knows how he connects with people and has an instinct that makes him a natural and compelling host for daytime,” CBS president of programming and development Aaron Meyerson tells THR. “Whether it’s a newsmaker-of-the-day, a celebrity or ordinary folks, Jeff will go further than typical discussion.”
He’ll also join an increasingly crowded field, as Katie Couric and Ricki Lake kick off their shows next year, too, after Anderson Cooper and Rosie O’Donnell premiere talk shows this fall.
