Michael Strahan was officially announced as Kelly Ripa’s new “Live!” co-host on the morning show on Tuesday.
Ripa excitedly revealed that after months of “almost 60″ guest co-anchors, she had finally found her “guy.”
“Nine months and I am about to give birth to my new co-host,” she joked.
Ripa then told the audience, “It gives me great pleasure to introduce to you the newest member of our ‘Live!’ family. We are honored to have him here. Michael Strahan!”
A beaming Strahan entered and said, “I am so happy to be here and be a part of this.”
Strahan, a former NFL star for the New York Giants, had been among a string of would-be co-hosts to audition for the gig in the months since Regis Philbin left the show.
