It’s unclear exactly where it came from, but Kelly Ripa was touched on ‘Live With Regis and Kelly’ (weekdays, syndicated) to receive two framed documents noting her grandfather’s arrival on Ellis Island.
One appears to be a manifest with statistics about people who had arrived on the same boat with 23-year-old Giuseppe Ripa, while the other is a drawing of the boat on which Giuseppe arrived. Oddly enough, the framed documents were just found on the set, which left Ripa wanting to get in touch with her anonymous gift-giver.
“He came to Ellis Island May 30, 1913,” Ripa said, pointing at the document, “and he stated – this makes me cry – that he couldn’t read or write. Isn’t that amazing?”
