A barn owl made itself comfortable on David Letterman’s desk, thanks to zookeeper Jack Hanna. The surprisingly fluffy animal contentedly perused the studio audience as Hanna pulled out a plastic bag with “Biohazard” emblazoned on it. Inside were several dead mice.
“Watch how they eat ’em — they eat a whole one,” he said giddily on ‘Late Show.’ Sure enough, the bird swallowed the mouse whole (and headfirst).
Letterman gave an uncomfortable chuckle and said “Oh, my God!” over and over. Hanna passed another mouse to the host. Letterman dangled it in front of the owl’s beak, and the bird swiftly helped himself.
