During a segment on ‘The View’ Tuesday, the panelists discussed the disturbing series of tweets from female fans of R&B star Chris Brown saying they would have gladly let him beat them. Sherri Shepherd opined that people were being too hard on the entertainer, saying that he was “reformed,” and going so far as to say he could even be seen as a “role model.”
“There may be a child in a situation of going through abuse that Chris Brown has gone through. His mother was abused right in front of his very eyes six years before this happened to Rihanna. He used to wet his pants from the fear,” Shepherd exclaimed. “He was a victim! He became an offender. He did what the courts told him to do. He went to 52 weeks a year of domestic prevention counseling.”
Co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck was a little taken aback by Shepherd’s leniency towards Brown.
“I think it’s interesting to be so loose on Chris Brown,” Hasselbeck scrutinized.
“You think we’re being loose on Chris Brown?!” Shepherd wailed.
“If it was your daughter, I don’t think you’d be saying it,” Hasselbeck countered.
