On ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show,’ movie director Tom Shadyac talked about how he lives in a modest house in a trailer park in Malibu and has given away much of his money. Last year he produced and directed the documentary ‘I Am,’ which focused on how people can help make the world a better place.
“It’s a simple life,” he said. “I haven’t given up everything. I don’t want to overdramatize this. I’ve simply met myself at my needs. I’ve found a thousand square feet is all that I need.” He has given most of his money, but not all, to people he says needed it more than he did. Most importantly, he says he’s happy. Most probably, so are all of the people sharing his money.
