Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah Winfrey tearfully cleared up rumors of a longstanding feud onf the “Oprah Winfrey Show.”
The pair, who appeared together in “The Color Purple,” had for years both believed that the other was mad at them. It was not until they ran into each other at Tyler Perry’s house this summer that they cleared things up.
“Whoopi came up to me and she said, ‘Can I just ask you something? Did I do something to you?'” Oprah said while fighting back tears, explaining that each had thought the other was mad at her.
Whoopi hypothesized that the feud may have begun because people assumed all black people in Hollywood knew each other, and people misunderstood her response when asked about Oprah.
“Why did you think I was mad at you?” Oprah asked Whoopi.
“I don’t know, I just guess because people kept saying you were!” Whoopi responded.
Whoopi and Oprah also discussed Whoopi’s special relationship with her mom, Emma Johnson, who passed away this summer.
